GVACC to Partner with the Chambers County School System with Uniform Swap Event

  The Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to partner with the Chambers  County School System with a uniform swap event for the upcoming school year on  July 20th from 8am-12pm ET at Bob Harding Shawmut Elementary Gym between the hours of 10am-4pm ET.  "We are asking our community families, churches and businesses to donate gently used or new uniforms for the event. We will accept all school age sizes and we ask that all donations meet the requirements for the CCSD uniform code", said GVACC Executive Director Carrie Wood. "We are in hopes to receive enough uniforms for each child in need, to receive at least two sets each", added Wood.   The Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce will accept donations July 8th - July 11th  between the hours of 10am-4pm ET. at the Chamber office located at 2918 20th Ave, Valley, AL 36854. 

LaFayette Main Street to host Reveal Ceremony for New City Sign

On  Thursday, June 27th at 11am Cst., LaFayette Main Street will host a reveal ceremony for the new city LaFayette welcome sign awarded through the Coosa Valley RC&D) grant to LaFayette Main Street. "We are honored to provide this new addition for our town and very thankful for the partnership of RC&D", said LaFayette Main Street Executive Director DeAnna Hand.

Deb's Place Event Center to Host Pop-Up Market Supporting Small Buisnesses

         Deb's Place Event Center will host a  pop-up market on             Sunday, June 30th at  1534 2nd Ave STE 2 in Opelika.         There will be 14 amazing vendors. Come out, shop,  eat           and enjoy.

City of Auburn Parks and Rec. Host 4th of July Celebration

Celebrate the 4th of July with the entire Auburn Community at the annual Independence Day Celebration on Sunday, July 4th with fun and fireworks. The Independence Day Celebration will take place behind Duck Samford Stadium. Gates open at 5 p.m. Bring your chairs and blankets and enjoy food trucks and music.  The fireworks will begin at 8:30 p.m. behind Duck Samford Stadium located at 1840 E. Glenn Avenue. The fireworks will be set off in a centrally located area — the old water tower site on East University Drive next to Duck Samford Park. The fireworks are sponsored by Davidson, Davidson, Umbach, and Forbus in memory of former City of Auburn attorney Arnold Umbach. The rain date will be Monday, July 5 with only fireworks. Bradshaw Library will host TOUCH-A-TRUCK

The Bradshaw Library will host  TOUCH-A-TRUCK on June 22nd.  Bring the entire family to the library to see, touch, and interact with local trucks, cars, & tractors and the people who operate them. Kids will receive a free treat from Big Mama's Ice Cream truck. A grab-and-go food truck will be on-site to purchase lunch or snacks!

Alabama’s 19th annual sales tax holiday for school-related items begins at 12:01 a.m.  Friday, July 19, 2024 , and ends at midnight  Sunday, July 21, 2024 , allowing shoppers to purchase certain school supplies, computers, books, and clothing free of the state’s four percent sales or use tax.

Hosted in downtown Opelika on various Friday nights throughout the year, the Opelika Chamber welcomes food trucks, live music, vendors, and thousands of visitors who dine, drink, and enjoy the community atmosphere.
